Recently, on a live call, I mentioned a technique called ‘tapping’, also known as the Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT. So, I want to share a little more about that here along with a couple of resources for anyone who wishes to try it.
How does EFT work?
EFT is a form of psychological acupressure that uses a gentle tapping technique instead of needles to stimulate traditional Chinese acupuncture points. The tapping on the designated points on the face and body is combined with verbalising the identified problem followed by a general affirmation phrase.
Combining the ingredients of the EFT technique balances the energy system of the body and appears to relieve psychological stress and physical pain.
Proponents say the tapping helps you access your body’s energy and send signals to the part of the brain that controls stress. They claim that stimulating the meridian points through EFT tapping can reduce the stress or negative emotion you feel from your issue, ultimately restoring balance to your disrupted energy.
Though still being researched, EFT tapping has been used to treat millions of people with anxiety, worry, fear, physical pain and people with post-traumatic stress disorder PTSD. Furthermore, EFT is safe, easy to apply and non-invasive.
My favourite free EFT resources
The Tapping App by Jessica and Nick Ortner: I have this app on my phone, and I use it regularly. There are several good free tapping sessions and then if you want to access all of their sessions you have to pay to upgrade to a subscription. Click here to find out more.
Brad Yates: Brad has a YouTube channel with literally hundreds of tapping sessions that you can use for free. He’s a great resource for finding a tapping session to suit whatever you’re struggling with or experiencing. Click here for Brad’s website where you can find out more about the technique and click here for his YouTube channel.
Both Jessica and Nick on the app, along with Brad on his website and channel, have a wide variety of tapping sessions on topics such as anxiety, stress, financial or health worries etc.
I’d like to share that, in addition to noticing a definite improvement in my own stress levels after a tapping session, I also know a couple of EFT coaches within my business network and my business mentor has been working with one of them for years and swears by the powerful results she’s experienced!
If you’re struggling with any anxiety or worry or if you feel stuck in a specific area of your life, I recommend that you give tapping a try and it may very well become a permanent feature in your wellbeing toolkit!
