Whether it’s something big like a change in work, home, or relationships, or something more subtle, we all move through personal transition phases at various stages in life. Some we choose, others we don’t.
Transition is the space between what was and what’s not quite here yet. It’s often messy, quiet, and uncertain. It’s the pause before clarity, the shedding of the old before the new takes shape.
And it doesn’t always come with drama. Sometimes it’s just a quiet nudge that things are shifting. You might feel it in your energy, your work, your priorities. But other times, it’s the deeply confronting kind — the “on the bathroom floor” kind!
Right now, many people are feeling this. Whether it’s the general climate of uncertainty, the end of the financial year, or even the seasonal shift into spring, there’s a collective sense of being in-between.
Without an understanding of these phases, it’s easy to assume something’s wrong with us — that we’re off track, not doing enough, or somehow falling behind. But often, we’re simply in transition.
This month, I’ll be sharing a few reflections and insights on what it means to be in a transition phase — how it feels, how to move through it, and how to come out the other side more grounded, more resilient, and more in tune with yourself.
You don’t need to be in a full-blown life overhaul to be in transition. If things feel foggy or unclear — like the old no longer fits, but the new hasn’t quite arrived — you’re not alone.
What I hope you’ll take comfort in throughout this month’s series is the idea that this space, however uncertain or uncomfortable, is actually full of possibility, even if it doesn’t feel that way yet.
More on that next week.
