January 6th, 2023 – Do you have your New Year wellbeing goals?
It’s that time of the year when many of us set new year’s resolutions or goals for the year ahead. However, there is a trap that I see many, many people falling into especially around wellbeing goals, which ultimately sets them up to fail … Read the full post here
January 13th, 2023 – Q&A: How can I be more positive and look on the brighter side of life?
This month’s question comes from Colin who recognises that when he’s stressed it oftentimes skews his thoughts to be more negative (– which is the case for most of us, as that’s what stress does). He’s asked me if I can recommend a simple tool to help him reframe and look on the brighter side of life.
I chose to answer Colin’s question this month, because now more than ever we are being bombarded with messages of doom and gloom, which undoubtedly adds to our overall stress levels. So, it’s critically important that we learn how to observe ourselves and our thoughts, and if we recognise our perspective has become more negative, we can then do something about it.
Of course, there are many ways we can do this, some more complex than others, but the one I share in this blog post is a simple question to ask yourself that can give you a very powerful perspective shift:

Notes From The Universe
Mike Dooley has an amazing story and comes across as an all-around lovely human being. His company TUT sells a huge range of motivational books, courses, and events, and they also offer something free called ‘Notes from the Universe’.
When you sign up for these ‘notes’ you get a daily morning email from Monday to Friday, with a brief inspiring, motivational anecdote about life. To some, these may seem a little cliché but personally, I love reading my daily note first thing in the morning … and I know many other people who love them too (there are over 1 million subscribers around the world)!
It’s worth mentioning and remembering that the way you start your day sets the tone for the rest of your day – so if you start off with an uplifting, expansive, optimistic thought, then that’s the mindset that will likely carry through for the rest of your day. But at the least, it’s far better to consume something positive rather than immediately listening to or reading the news, checking your emails, or anything else that invokes stress.
Personally, my ‘Notes From The Universe’ email is always something I look forward to, and the first email that I read for that reason!
You can sign up to receive them HERE and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
