This month, we explored the harmful cultural trend of the ‘summer bikini body,’ often characterised by rapid weight loss through restrictive diets, fasts, detoxes, and intense exercise regimes.
We began by debunking the bikini body myth, emphasising body positivity and self-acceptance. Next, we examined the health risks associated with quick weight-loss practices. Finally, I shared what truly matters to me: how to cultivate a positive relationship with our bodies and adopt sustainable, healthy self-care habits that will support life-long wellness.

June 7th, 2024 – My thoughts on the ‘summer bikini body’ message
In the quest for a “bikini-ready body”, many turn to quick-fix diets and/or gruelling fitness routines, promising rapid results. However, whilst these fads may offer temporary results, they often come at the cost of your health and wellbeing. Given that many people start focusing on their bodies around this time of year, I’d like to start by debunking the summer bikini body myth, in this blog post, by replacing this toxic trend with two key messages … Read the full post here
June 14th, 2024 – The trap of quick fixes for a ‘summer body’
The promise of fast weight loss can be tempting, especially with summer on the horizon. But the truth is, losing weight quickly often comes with significant downsides. Rapid weight loss usually involves extreme calorie restrictions or fitness fads, which can lead to a host of health problems. Additionally, the psychological effects of quick weight loss and subsequent regain can be damaging. To find out more about the negative impact … Read the full post here
June 21st, 2024 – Create a healthy body for life, not just the summer
In this final post of the series, I want to shine the light on something far more important to me than ‘bikini bodies’, fad diets and quick fixes, and that’s sustainable wellbeing and self-care. Having the ‘body you want’ and feeling confident in your own skin is attainable for everyone, but it starts with appreciating your body and prioritising your wellbeing. From fitness to coach and consultant – my journey
Recently, I’ve been sharing quite a bit about exercise and nutrition, along with the detox program I introduced at the beginning of the year. If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that I also write about topics like stress management, imposter syndrome, positive psychology, resilience, and time management, to name a few.
You may be wondering why I combine all of these areas…so, let me explain a bit more about my background and experience.
I started my business 14 years ago as a personal trainer, specialising in my own branded fitness method called BodyEdit, which was based on the ‘barre’ method.
I spent over four years training clients and teaching fitness classes. I also began helping clients with weight loss. My speciality was ‘intuitive eating’ and what I call ‘healthy weight loss’ – helping people lose weight and get in shape in a balanced, sustainable way. As well as advising on food and exercise, this also involved a lot of mindset work.
As my career and business evolved, I found myself advising clients on stress management and other healthy lifestyle habits because I saw the need for a fully holistic approach to help my clients really get the results they wanted in a way that was sustainable and therefore permanent. I knew then that I had to offer more than just fitness and weight loss. This led me to pursue further training including life coaching and positive psychology.
Naturally, I started attracting clients who lead busy lives and need support in creating balance, reducing stress, performing well and improving their health.
These days, I work with private clients on a variety of issues based on their needs. For some, the focus remains on wellbeing, self-care and stress management, while for others, it’s about building confidence, boosting performance or achieving business and career goals, leading some of my clients to refer to me as their life coach. I also work as a wellbeing consultant, partnering with organisations to develop and deliver webinars, workshops, and wellbeing programs and I frequently coach their teams and senior leaders on a one-to-one basis.
My clients typically fall into two categories: those struggling in one or more areas who need support to grow and achieve their goals, and those who are doing well but want to take their life, or an aspect of their life, to the next level. I love that I can combine my knowledge and expertise to help clients achieve their goals, no matter what they may be: work, life, or health-related.
If you are new here and were not aware of my background, but now interested in learning more, do get in touch. I offer a free 30-minute call where we can discuss your needs, I can tell you about my coaching and mentoring programs, and we can see if we’re a good fit!
